Memoirs of Sir Edward Thornton [manuscript], 1835-1843.

Thornton's memoirs, begun in 1835 and containing annotations through 1843, describe his stay in the United States from 1791-1804 as secretary to Lord George Hammond, the first British minister to the U.S., and from 1808 as Charge d'affaires in Washington.
